ICSOBA 18th International Symposium, Zhengzhou, China 25 to 27 November 2010
The main objective of the International Committee for the Study of Bauxite, Alumina & Aluminium (ICSOBA) is to promote/exchange ideas and results of work from different fields of research related to bauxite exploration and exploitation, and alumina and aluminium production. To realize this, experts from different disciplines, mineralogy, geology, geochemistry, environmental aspects, mining of bauxite, and related ores, technology of alumina and aluminium production, are invited periodically to meet together for conferences and symposia, field excursions in different regions of the world where bauxites occur, and to publish a unique Journal Travaux d’ICSOBA.The ICSOBA Secretariat is pleased to announce the 18th International Symposium will be held in Zhengzhou, China from 25 to 27 November 2010. The theme of the 18th Symposium is “Overview of Bauxite, Alumina and Aluminium Industry worldwide with special reference to China”. The ICSOBA Secretariat has great pleasure in seeking your cooperation to participate and invites you to present a technical paper at the forthcoming meet in Zhengzhou.

IAI welcomes new member companies China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) and Qatalum
At its 76th Meeting held in London today, the Board of Directors of the Institute formally welcomed China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) and Qatalum as its newest members.
Acknowledging the two companies, Mr Artem Volynets, IAI Chairman and Deputy CEO of UC Rusal, noted that the industry continued to witness a shift in production to new hubs, such as China and the Middle East and welcomed the increasing representation of these regions in the IAI membership.
CPI will be represented on the IAI Board of Directors by Mr Guo Yaode, Director General, Department of Aluminum-related Business and Qatalum by Mr Truls Gautesen, CEO.
