Our work

The IAI is at the forefront of all aluminium industry related issues. We produce timely publications and reports, compile key industry statistics, host events and provide a global meeting point for our members.

Membership

The IAI has 25 member companies worldwide. At present the membership is responsible for more than 80% of world primary aluminium production and a significant proportion of the world's recycling production.

The IAI delegate or director from each member is usually its chief executive officer or managing director. The IAI's meetings are therefore held at the highest level in the industry.

Board and Secretariat

The IAI comprises a Secretary General and staff and is based in London. Its activities are directed by a Board of Directors consisting of the chief executive officers or managing directors of each member company. The elected officers of the IAI are the chairman and nine vice-chairmen, who each serve for a two-year term.

Advisory Committees

Representatives from member companies work with the IAI in a range of Advisory Committees, which advise the IAI Board on key industry issues.

By participating in these committees, member companies share experience and expertise in all the main industry areas including: statistics, safety, health, environment, and promotion. The committees also help develop guidelines and voluntary objectives, analyse data, liaise with stakeholders and scope and commission research projects.
