    PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (INALUM), which was established as a National Project in 1976 and is the only aluminium smelter in the South-East Asia, is a joint venture company between the Government of the Republic Indonesia (41.12%) and Japanese consortium Nippon Asahan Aluminium Co. Ltd (58.88%), with its designed capacity of 225.000 tons per annum. The infrastructure facilities also include two hydroelectric power plants.
